Child Policy: This performance is not suitable for children under six years old. Children aged 16 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver who attends the event with the child. Its technical challenges test the strongest violinists; its artistic ones expose the soul of the supreme musicians. Gil Shaham, appearing for the first time in New Zealand, is unquestionably such an artist. Prokofiev saw the heroine of his ballet as more than a fairytale character, calling her 'a real person, feeling, experiencing, and moving among us'. He clothes her in music which, by turns, is sprightly, ebullient, and sweetly full of heartfelt longing.
